Black Ops 4 already had a Battle Royale mode in 2018, and the free online game Fortnite has grossed more than $88 billion since Activision launched its new Call of Duty. Warzone, however, is based on the 2019 reboot of Modern Warfare; it's not a remake of the original game, but a spin-off of it. While retaining some of the typical gameplay and feel of Call of Duty, it deviates from Black Ops "focus on gear.
Activision is not only dipping its toes into the waters of free online games like Fortnite and Battle Royale, it is also dipping headlong into a new genre.
Activision has announced Warzone, a game where console and PC users can play together, and the official Activision blog has now confirmed that it will be released in the US and Europe on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on November 14.
If you earn or purchase cosmetics in Warzone, they can be transferred to the new game, or you should eventually buy the latter. If you own the paid version, you can get a four-hour advance from 11am ET on November 14 to play the latest game.
While the press release confirmed the November 14 release date of the game and a four-hour preview, it left us waiting for some solid gameplay impressions.
Call of Duty Warzone offers something fresh for the growing number of people who watch livestream games, analysts say. Activision plans to release a Battle Royale game in 2018, and analysts said the industry is shifting more toward a free-to-play model, and Activision's move should be of concern to competitors. Warzone is a squad-based affair, but also offers a variety of modes for those who like to go it alone. It slides the envelope a smiley face with a 150 player lobby that features a single player campaign mode as well as an online multiplayer mode.
Warzone blends the Battle Royale formula into Call of Duty, but with contemporary weapons, sounds and animations that combine with its massive and astonishingly detailed maps to create a grandiose title.
Other favorites of MW fans are Sniper Breath, Jumpshot and Fast Reload, each of which brings new gaming capabilities to the table. The Auto Sprint Mod, which is part of the Mega Modz bundle offered in Warzone and is extremely useful in the game, has been updated with the Super Sprint Sub mode, which allows players to significantly increase the running speed.
Warzone is slated for release on March 10, 2020 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, but PS4 users have another product to choose from. In the early 2020s, Mega Modz released a new PS 4 Macro Remap Controller that allows you to customize any video game, including COD Warzone, for $100. The Xbox One modded controller for the war zone comes in the form of a juggernaut pack loaded onto the gamepad.
