Jessie has also appeared in Toy Story Toons, Buzz Lightyears of Star Command. In a prologue, which takes place in-between Toy Story 2 and the events of Toy Story 3, Jessie helps Woody, Bo Peep, and others rescue RC from the storm. In Disney-Pixars Toy Story franchise, Jessie is a plucky, exuberant rag doll that holds great sadness, since its original owners outgrew Jessie and abandoned her.
She ultimately longs to be a source of joy for a child, having been saved by Woody, and has spent years with her new owner, Andy Davies. Jessie attempts to convince Woody to join the others to start anew at Sunnyside Daycare, but Woody unwillingly calls her and the other toys selfish; she leaves to go back to Andy on her own. Jessie fails to realise Andy intended for the toys to be in the attic, and Andy accidentally throws them away, and she steadfastly refuses to listen to Woody when Woody attempts to clarify the misconception, believing that Andy has moved on, and that they should too. Once Woody finds out he and the others are going to be sold at the toy museum in Tokyo, Woody tells the others he needs to go back home to Al, causing Jessie to be disappointed.
Jessie is the second toy that welcomes Woody to Als apartment, after Woody is stolen by Al McWhiggin. In modern times, Jessie is Bonnie Andersons favourite toy, giving Jessie the badge of Woody in consequence. During a routine clean-up of the files in storage, the animator accidentally hits the key-command, which wipes out all sets on the system, including the entirety of Toy Story 2.
With the deadline approaching, Pixar brought on the original team from Toy Story to take the reins on the movie, as well as give the movie a serious makeover that they felt was needed. When the new directors, as well as members of a team of original Toy Story staff called The Braintrust, including Lasseter, Stanton, as well as writers/animators Pete Docter and Joe Ranft, got a glimpse at how the movie was shaping up, however...they were not so impressed.
