On Ischia Ponte is the famous Aragonese Castle, one of the most iconic symbols of the island of Ischia. It is also home to the medieval fortress of Castello ARagonese, the most famous symbol of the island and the venue of the Ischia Film Festival. Ischias Ponte, also known as Ponte di Ponte is one of the most historic and most preserved villages on the island and a former fishing village that got foot in the famous castle.
Ischia is the largest of three islands off the coast of Naples, between Procida and Capri, more than asserts itself in a triangle of beauty that rises azure in the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is located at the northwest entrance to the Bay of Naples and Cape Miseno, west and southwest of the city. The Aragonese Castle on the island of Ischia Ponte is one of the most impressive monuments on the island.
The island of Ischia is a mountainous volcanic island about 30 km southwest of the Italian city of Naples in the Tyrrhenian Sea on the northern edge of the Gulf of Naples. With an area of 463 km2, it is the largest island of the Phlegrean Islands, an archipelago in the Gulf.

Aragonese Castles The Aragonese Castle is located on Ischia Ponte, built in 474 BC by Hieron Syracuse on a rocky island. The castle is the most famous symbol of sciatica and the island on which it is located.
With the increasing rarity and severity of pirate attacks over the centuries and the construction of better defences, the islanders began to venture beyond the castle, and here began the historic center and the city of Ischia. In the seventeenth century, the Bourbons of the island, which had become French property in 1806, and Ischium fell victim to English persecution by the French.
In 474 BC, during the war with the Etruscans, Hiero of Syracuse left a garrison on the island as part of his efforts to fortify the whole of Naples and planned a castle to protect the capital of the island, now known as Ischium. In 6 AD, during his visit to Capri, Alexander the Great was desperate to preserve the island of Capri and exchange it for Naples and Ischia. Hieron occupied Ischia and the surrounding Parthenopean islands and left behind a garrison to build a fortification for the city of Ischia itself.
Ischia is the island's most important city, and it is possible to visit the Aragonese castle, the maritime museum and the Anthonys Library that covers the history of the island. The port of Ischia is famous for the imposing castle of Aragon, rich in stories of blood and thunder.
