The rationale behind this is pretty clear: reducing the scope of the game would help bring the game to consumers faster and potentially reduce the need for the development team. Rock stars care of GTA Online suggests that they want to play with their signature open world series, but they don't really have to either. This would indicate that there would be a continued commitment to the open world aspect of their game, and it would signal a willingness to continue that commitment, even if it means that GTA 6 appears several years away rather than surfacing unexpectedly in the near future. When a new Rockstar game is announced, it gets all the attention because it is highly anticipated, like GTA 4, GTA 5 or even GTA 7, so it doesn't get attention when it arrives.
PC finally comes, it seems fair to bet on GTA6 as well, and it suggests that it will build on the success of GTA Online by integrating more live service options. It is worth bearing in mind that Rockstar's commitment to keeping the open world aspect of the game as open as possible may tick some boxes that might make a GTA 7 announcement more likely, but I am more interested in betting on it.
It sounds plausible that the scale of the game will expand beyond known locations to include more states and global cities. Speaking of old GTA cities, as some might point out, the video below shows the Liberty City scene, which seems to be mocking the old town's reputation as one of rock star's most popular locations.
A redesigned version of Liberty City was introduced in Grand Theft Auto V, which is set in 2001, and a redesigned version of Vice City was also introduced, both discontinued after 1986. A redesigned edition of Vice City was also introduced, with the new version being discontinued before 2001 and the old version after 2002.
Liberty City is not open world, but linear missions take place in Liberty City, and it is the framework for missions in the latter. A third version of San Andreas appeared in Grand Theft Auto IV, which is set in 1992 and re-imagines itself as a state. The city is mentioned in GTA V, GTA 5 and GTA Online, although it was not mentioned in any of these games. GTAIV , but this reinvented version, "San Andreas," shows the state and not the city, but it is still an open world.
The far safer option seems to be to add an online version to the existing GTA Online and separate it from the game, but that would probably be reusing the world map made for GTA 6. PC-GTA modding community, modders have discovered a variety of optimizations and improvements, and will likely delve deeper into the open world of Liberty City than in GTA IV. Visually you can compare it and look at the modalized version of San Andreas redux as well as the original version in Grand Theft Auto IV and GTA 5.
Reports of a London setting for GTA 6 have emerged from a rumor that the next game will be set in London, not New York, the US city. Rockstar Games sources suggest that London is the only non-US location that has been put forward as a potential GTA venue.
Liberty City in San Andreas was settled in Vice City, meaning it is the only place that has not been explored by a current game. HD - Universe version was first introduced and mentioned in the first game, Grand Theft Auto IV, as well as in GTA V and GTA 5.
Unfortunately, Take - Two have remained tight - has been grumbling about the prospects of GTA 6, but when they got their hands on the game, they did, and unfortunately they didn't. Of course, their participation in E3 does not guarantee that the GTA6 will be unveiled at the event, but it does at least make it more likely that we could see something Grand Theft Auto - which is related during the show. Given the rumors of a GTA 5 port coming to the latest generation of consoles, it seems likely that this job will have something to do with the marketing campaign for the launch later this year, and not with anything to do with a still - technically - unannounced GTA 6. Still, it's fun to get our imagination going about what the future of the Grand Theft Auto franchise might hold.
