This article discusses the definition of consciousness, how it relates to the meaning of life, and how it can be enhanced through higher states of consciousness.
-
People use consciousness to refer to awareness and its capacity to be aware of something. Human awareness, or self-awareness, is the ability to recognize oneself and one's own existence. Conscious states are subjective states that cannot be easily accounted for in an explanation. They include such things as insight, intuition, creativity and even spiritual experiences.
Consciousness is the most mysterious aspect of our lives and it is essential for us to understand what it means. Without consciousness, there would be no life. Our conscious experiences are the foundation of everything we do and believe in. We cannot have consciousness without life, nor can we have life without consciousness. Consciousness experience is linked with embodied consciousness, which means that living entities must possess a body image in order to sense and conceive of the world around them in a circular relation with self-preservation. In other words, making fact out of an idea requires that living organisms, such as embodied humans, must be able to perceive themselves in order to function properly. This concept has been adopted by many cultures as a way of affording human consciousness greater importance than any other living entity.
Consciousness refers to an extended consciousness that is aware of past experiences, body image, and reflexive processes. It is the ability to perceive the moment self in time and space. This concept differs from the earliest bacteria in that it had no coherent consciousness; instead, it was based on coherence between experiences and anticipated future connections.
As our human awareness continues to evolve, our experiences become more conscious and self-aware. This constitutes a fundamental basis for the emergence of self-awareness and the ability to experience the self in the body. Our prenatal organisms did not possess basic forms of consciousness but rather relied on instinctual responses to stimuli. However, as we start human beings, we possess basic forms of consciousness that are rooted in our biology and form the basis for our conscious experiences. This has crucial impacts on how we interact with our body world and how we interpret it.
Injecting consciousness onto the world means that we take into account our own terms of what is and what isn't. This includes consciousness as an intrinsic property of matter that ultimately gives it a meaning beyond its physics. It also means that consciousness can play a role in how matter behaves and interacts with other matter. This is something that has been talked about inside the walkers community for some time and takes a giant leap beyond looking at the human or at least animal life as something special, or different to anything else, including god if one believes in such thing.
The concept of achieving self-realization and the realization of bliss is a path that can be taken by any life form, whether human or not. It is important to understand that consciousness, as homo sapiens beings, is not something that only mankind can achieve. Lizards, for example are often seen as having a consciousness of some kind and have the ability to experience emotions such as fear and joy. The idea of living in a more conscious or unconscious formless mode means accepting more complex contents than what normal living would normally suggest; understanding the complexity of life and its capability to offer us something more than our ordinary human existence. A Confucianist scholar might suggest that this means going beyond evolution, but rather evolving into something higher than where we currently stand. This could mean learning how to live with greater awareness while still maintaining our connection with other people and nature in order to gain a better understanding of our place in this world.
Consciousness and the meaning of life are complex concepts, however, further attributes can be identified in order to gain a deeper understanding. These could include cognition, awareness, and wisdom which can be attained through the afforded developmental change humans experience throughout their lifetime. It is hoped that by delving into this complexity we may foresee gradual development in our sense of reality and life structure. This could even lead to higher states of consciousness which have yet to be fully explored or understood. By breaking down the attributes that forms human consciousness we may gain insight into what gives life meaning and ultimately find hope in an otherwise illusionary world.
Consciousness is an ever-evolving process, from awakening experiences to optimizing your cognitive functionality, which acts as a gateway to higher states. At a brain level, consciousness is composed of neurons, neurotransmitters and proteins that transmit information between cells and from one brain region to another. The transformation of consciousness involves radical de-centering from the machine processing level and taking into account the psychological level. This just minute account of what makes us conscious can help us understand our place in the world and may provide a sense of purpose or meaning. With this understanding we can begin to optimize our higher states of consciousness and strive for an even deeper understanding of ourselves.
Studies of consciousness have revealed a radical self-transformation that is possible through the elaboration of self-representation. This allows us to gain a better understanding of our own needs and desires, as well as how they correlate with our representation capacity. From this perspective, we can begin to explore mythology and philosophies regarding the way consciousness can be used to solve problems, understand reality, and evolve our capacity for space and idea. The cognitive science perspective has been particularly helpful in exploring human consciousness in relation to solving problems and creating a richer conscious experience. It has revealed that anticipatory behavior is closely related to problem solving in human beings, indicating that we are capable of using our higher states of consciousness for creative purposes. Additionally, cognitive science reveals that symbolic games play an important role in problem solving by allowing us to represent abstract concepts in a meaningful way. Ultimately, the ability of humans to use their higher states of consciousness to solve complex problems is indicative of our evolution as a species. Our capacity for space and idea continues to grow with each passing generation, providing us with an ever-expanding range of possibilities for rich conscious experience.
Self-consciousness involves the ability to reflect on ourselves and our actions, and a volitional attitude towards them. In this way, we are able to take responsibility for our decisions, which is an essential part of self-awareness. Dennett's sense of consciousness can be seen as a kind of 'information store', in which information about ourselves and the world around us is stored in order to build up a picture of reality. Phenomenologists suggest that there are many different ways in which consciousness can be experienced by a person, depending on their individual perspective.
